Rods that are extensive in length will ship in two or more pieces depending on the size. Rest assured, we can easily guarantee that any of our joined curtain rods will be as strong and functional as a one-piece curtain rod. When our rods are split for shipping, they and joined together internally with a center connector so there is never a bump for your curtains to hang up on.

How to measure windows for double Drapery Rods:

Measuring windows for double curtain rods is about the same as measuring them for single or standard curtain rods except that you need to be sure to check that the longer projection of the double rod mounting brackets won’t interfere with sills or shelves that may be installed around the window.

Measure the window width, and add enough on each side so that the drapes will block the light around the sides of the window, and allow the drape to slide sufficiently off of the window when they are opened. This measurement is the drapery rod length.

Make sure you have room beyond these measurements for the drapery rod finials you have selected.

For Corner curtain Rod with a French Return Leave enough room on the outside end of the return for your curtains to wrap around the rod, a 3″ minimum clearance is recommended.

For inside mounted rods (mounted to the wall perpendicular the window wall), measure the opening and provide that measurement without any deductions, in the “Special Instructions” box, we will subtract for the thickness of the mounts after the order is received.

How to measure windows for Return Rods, or French curtain rods:

Return rods have a 90 degree return back to the wall. One advantage of this is that you can utilize this curved area of the rod to stack the drape which will reduce the wall space that the curtain stack requires to clear the window. Keep in mind that it does look nice to have your curtains loosely gathered and not bunched up tight when drawn so opt for a bit longer rod rather than crowding the window with the drapes. Return rods are measured just like straight rods, the overall length on your wall. A 60″ return rod will measure exactly 60″ on your wall.

Measure the window width, and add enough on each side so that the drapes will block the light around the sides of the window, and allow the drape to slide sufficiently off of the window when they are opened. This measurement is the drapery rod length. Leave enough room on the outside end of the return for your curtains to wrap around the rod, a 3″ minimum clearance is recommended.

Order changes on custom curtain rods can be made within 24 hours of placing the order. Since all curtain rods are custom cut to your measurements, we can not make changes after the 24 hours.
